5:30 tho, why didn’t that ass just brake and go behind the semi instead of trying to overtake without a lane.

I have no clue. I’m guessing neither does the uploader as it was a submitted clip. Semi’s merge was idiotic but yeah the camera car should’ve just braked.

Why didn’t the semi singal the lane change? Still dumb not to brake, but still.

I had that same situation happen to me, but on an overpass with way less shoulder. It’s a moment of severe panic and there’s not much that can prepare you for it, and with that much trailer it can seem like forward is a better option. But even braking didn’t help... I’m fortunate in that it happened at the end of the overpass so I got shoved over just as the barrier ended and so the Niva only lost a mirror and a tire instead of getting crushed against the k-rail, or worse, pushed over it for a plummet into 50 mph traffic. Dude in the b-train didn’t even stop, and neither did any of the other drivers that watched me get pushed off the four-foot drop into the median.

In other stories about Jeeps pretending to be BMW’s, this summer going down OR highway 199 in the 320,000 mile MJ (two solid axles and original completely trashed suspension), I was driving somewhat slowly because my buddy was having trouble keeping up in his ‘76 Impala. This newer 3-series absolutely hammered past us and disappeared. Eventually the twisties got the better of my patience and I started going faster and left the Impala in the dust. It took almost no time to catch up to the BMW, at which point I realized my mistake and slowed down considerably. Eventually I gave up waiting for the boat to catch up and pulled over for a few minutes until it went by. Oops.

And these ones were even Canadians. Fortunately the Niva still drives okay, at least once I changed that tire. And I needed new tires anyway. I’m pretty upset about the mirror though. Haven’t been able to find another one. Seems like it was only used very briefly before getting updated with a larger, supposedly more useful one that I think looks goofy. But you can only get the newer or the old ‘70's style mirrors now. I went back that night and picked up all three pieces of the mirror’s shell so I might try putting it back together with new glass before too much longer. But yeah, I’ve survived 2.5 years without it. Still have flashbacks occasionally though. Scary AF, let me tell you.

Yes. Just the same distance (or more) in the other direction and replace the name with grand rapids.
